Fundraising Lessons From 2000
Friday, February 15, 2013
In 2000 I took the advancement team to the Disney Institute to attend Fast Company’s first Real Time gathering. We went to this event because there were no professional development opportunities in the nonprofit world on customer retention. Fast Company combined with Disney gave us an extraordinary experience and became the foundation of our many conversations on creating the donor experience. By November of 2000 we had already been blogging institutionally for a year in an effort to market and share the school with the world. We were all taken by the incredible skill Ben Zander had to engage and move his audience. His ability to turn a simple tune we all know into a powerful metaphor is a moment I will never forget. Enjoy this example below.
